Sean Finn (born Michael John Finn 1898 in Rathkeale, Co. Limerick, Ireland) was a commander of multiple units in the IRA's Irish War of Independence in the early 20th Century. He led many attacks on RIC patrols. On July 13, 1920, a six man RIC cycle patrol was attacked by the IRA under the command of Sean Finn resulting in the death of Constable Patrick Fahey. He was feared by the British for his military acumen and ruthlessness. He was successful in many of his attacks until on March 30, 1921 he was killed in action in the Ballyhahill/Athea area near Foynes in Co.Limerick. O hAnnagain, one of Finn's best men, witnessed the death of Sean Finn at Ballyhahill. In this battle Tom Howard shot dead a Black and Tans who was about to shoot the dying Finn.
